During the last couple of weeks I have been working with different designers. Emma Townsend, a fashion designer and friend from College as well as an amazing model, asked me to shoot her final piece for her 'Utopia' project.

Emma is really creative and enthusiastic and I love working with her. We decided to do something different than a white or grey background. I had an idea to use special gels to fill out the white space in the studio. 

  However, I decided to use a light projector to display a colourful photo straight from the computer screen onto Emma. I used a high ISO 800 and I shot 125 on F2.2. 

I love the final effect and the special orange metallic bag which reflected the light so well.

I am really happy with these photos. I think I have three strong photos for my fashion portfolio.

 I need twelve more so back to the studio on Monday.

Human Inside Out dress by Joanna Michalska.

Another photo shoot with Joanna Michalska. The red dress from the Human Inside Out Collection was inspired by the muscles and bones of the human body.

We shot in the Livello bar. The location was great for this style and the red dress was just perfect for a night out or even to be worn on the red carpet.    

The vibrant red lipstick and a funky hair style worked great together. 

I absolutely love this look. 

I used one light with a beauty dish. I like the strong shadow behind the model.

Denim Jumpsuit design by Rachel Keepin.

Today I shot a denim jumpsuit with Rachel Keepin, a fashion designer from Newcastle College.

We decided to go very simple and natural.

She asked her friend Ashley to model for us. 

Natural hair and make up perfectly suited this daytime outfit.

I used two lights, one big soft box, the light from behind and a grey background. 

Ashley was really cute and funny, Rachel gave her good advice on how to model. 

I love her designs and I hope I will have another chance to work with her again.

Fashion Designer Joanna Michalska 

Last week was extremely busy. I was shooting 'The Garden of Denim' Collection designed by Joanna Michalska, a fashion student from London College of Fashion. We met on Instagram and Joanna was looking for photographers. I have just started creating my final portfolio so a collaboration with her was just perfect for me. I really like her denim collection. She is a very talented and enthusiastic designer and I am sure she will be successful and I hope we will have an opportunity to work together again.

  The photo shoot took two days. On Monday we shot on location in Livello Bar in Newcastle city centre and on Tuesday we spend all day in the studio.

Managing the project was really stressful. This time I had quite a big team, me, the designer,  five models, the make up artist, the hair stylist and a cameraman. 

However, everything went perfect and I had so much fun. I really loved the team work.

I need few more days for editing so keep your eyes open because the final pictures are coming soon.

Yesterday I shot at Lumley Castle with a lovely couple.

 A texas girl and a boy from Durham, Matthew and Ashley.

A beautiful location and a charming couple totally in love.

They are getting married in Texas in July 2013.

Ashley's dress was designed especially for her for this photo shoot and I think she looks stunning. 

It was great to meet you. All the best for the future.

Last week I shot with the stunning and talented fashion designer Kayleigh Falcus. 
Kayleigh brought her amazing new jewellery collection to the studio. We decided to go for a futuristic modern style. We worked as a team. Our make up artist Marta Doska looked after make up side and designed all the looks. Tony, the lovely and creative hair stylist and Kayleigh, the fantastic model and  great designer. I love working in coloboration with talented and entusiastic people.  

I shot with a beauty dish but I tried something different this time to create what is known as a depth of field effect using the flash in the studio. I love blurry backgrounds when I am shooting outside using my 50mm but I wan't sure how to create the same effect in the studio.
Allan the lighting expert at the college explained everything to me. Its great to have him around in the studio when I am setting up the lighting.

I covered the light with black foil and set up the lights on a really low setting. 
Shutter speed 125 and F 1.4 / 3.5.
I really like the soft effect on the models face and I would love to shoot more portraits this way.

Kayleigh will use the photos on her website and facebook page. 
I love her work and the photo shoot was great fun for her. I would love to work with her in the future.
